Lake Haven Cottage: Swim dock, Game Room and Boat

Best stay for the price range in Hot Springs We highly recommend Positive: This lake cottage is very comfortable, great kitchen, snacks and coffee were a very nice touch, easy communicating the host made us feel welcome via messaging . The game room was so fun the arcade games and pool table was a fantastic way to end the evening with laughter Negative: I feel like everything was very well represented in the ad . Possible add room darken shades instead of mini blinds for light reduction at night. Only one true suggestion is the extra large display on the AC is very bright at night if you could find a way to deflect that light.

Disorganized communication slightly hazardous. Positive: Location was amazing, right on the lake. Negative: The communication to get into the place was very disorganized. When I tried texting to get in, there was no response. When I tried calling it would ring once and then hang up. I finally was able to get them to call me back about 45 minutes after the time we were supposed to be able to check in.After that was settled, I started making my way down to our dock where you must walk down a slightly steep hill to get to, I ended up falling because it is not terraced properly. I ended up meeting the other guests staying in the front house, which had the same concerns and kept banging their toe on the uneven decking. There is no fencing around at all, which fortunately I didn't have any kids with me, but if I did this would be a nightmare to say the least around water. The other guests were super unhappy as they thought their rental was supposed to come with a boat. There was a boat there, however it turns out you have to rent it for extra money. The advertising on ours said the same thing but I did see there was options to rent. It is kinda misleading in my opinion. Our dock was super rocky bouncing all over. After I fell I didn't even try to walk out on it, it wasn't stable and I have had a lot of experience around docks. I then proceeded to try to get into the game room, but didn't see any information on a combination to get in. We did get a phone call from the owners several hours later after the front guests had complained. I appreciate them trying to resolve the issues, however this could have easily been fixed with all of this information up front before arriving. It was my 20 year Anniversary and it put a damper on the start of my trip. There also was a cockroach in our room after we arrived back from dinner. After receiving instructions to access the game room, we went in for a game of pool. The pool table is super wobbly. If you are someone who loves playing pool,;you would be very disappointed.

Bummer Negative: Unfortunately several issues made our stay disappointing. The biggest issue was that the swim dock did not have a ladder, even though the listing photos clearly showed one. This was one of the main reasons I chose this Airbnb, as we specifically wanted the kids to be able to swim from the dock, so it was frustrating to arrive and find it missing. Also, there were nails sticking up through the boards on the “swim deck”, making it very risky for kids to even walk out on it. Check-in was also problematic. Although check-in was listed for 4:00 p.m., the cleaning crew was still there after 5:00 p.m., forcing us to wait in the car until they were done. To make matters worse, there were no pillows when we finally got inside, requiring multiple phone calls with the cleaning staff while we were trying to enjoy our vacation. The pillows were not delivered until after 7:00 p.m. Additionally, one of the arcade game machines in the advertised game room was not working, the air conditioner leaked water onto the floor inside the cottage, one of the beds had a significant dip in the middle that made it very uncomfortable for two people to sleep on, and some of the outlets did not work. Overall, the cottage itself was clean and in a decent location, but the inaccurate listing details, delayed check-in, and multiple maintenance issues made the experience much less enjoyable than we had anticipated. Based on our experience, we would not choose to stay here again.

Tiny but mighty. Positive: At first we were worried that it would be too small when we first pulled in. But the space felt bigger than it looked. We were not on top of eachother eirher. It was very comfortable We loved the lake access. We didnt use the game room but it was nice to have available. It was very quiet also. We thoroughly enjoyed the lodging. They have pots and pans to do lite cooking silverware dishes all of those type of things. Negative: The only thing I woukd say that I didnt like would be that there were towels but if we were staying for more than 2 nights we wouldn't have had enough. But we also didnt contact the Host to ask for more so its just a if I had to say something bad this is it.
